At SEICOM Degree College, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy ensures a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of the campus community. The college strictly prohibits any form of sexual harassment and is committed to addressing and preventing such behavior through clear guidelines and prompt action.

Objectives

  1. To promote a culture of dignity, equality, and respect for all.

  2. To prevent incidents of sexual harassment on campus and in college-related activities.

  3. To provide a fair and confidential mechanism for addressing complaints.

  4. To ensure compliance with legal guidelines, including the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Definition of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes unwelcome behavior, such as:

  • Physical contact or advances.

  • Demand or request for sexual favors.

  • Sexually colored remarks, jokes, or comments.

  • Display of pornography or offensive materials.

  • Any other behavior that creates a hostile or offensive environment.

Key Practices

  1. Prevention and Awareness:

    • Regular sensitization programs and workshops for students, staff, and faculty.

    • Posters, handbooks, and digital campaigns to educate about sexual harassment and its consequences.

  2. Internal Complaints Committee (ICC):

    • A dedicated committee is formed as per legal requirements to handle complaints.

    • The ICC includes a presiding officer (female faculty), faculty members, staff, and an external expert.

  3. Grievance Redressal Process:

    • Victims can file complaints confidentially through email, a grievance portal, or directly with the ICC.

    • The ICC ensures an unbiased and confidential inquiry into every complaint.

    • Resolutions are provided within a stipulated timeframe.

  4. Support for Complainants:

    • Counseling services and emotional support are available for victims.

    • Assurance of protection against retaliation or victimization.

  5. Strict Enforcement:

    • Perpetrators face disciplinary actions, which may include suspension, expulsion, or legal proceedings based on the severity of the offense.

    • Zero tolerance is maintained for false complaints or misuse of the policy.

Impact

By implementing this policy, SEICOM Degree College ensures a secure and equitable environment, empowering students and staff to thrive without fear of harassment or discrimination.
